Many of you have seen the pictures of our adorable youngest daughter, Dakota.
Something you should know about this 5′2″, 105lb beautiful little girl is that she loves to play soccer, and she plays hard. She had a game yesterday and when the game was over she showed me a very swollen wrist and she couldn’t move it or her fingers. Thankfully I have a friend, Cindi Curl, who is a Doctor at St. Ann’s emergency room. I called her and she told me to take Dakota to the Urgent Care Center across from the soccer fields. So we end up at the Urgent Care Center where they took x-rays and ended up putting her in some type of special splint. They didn’t see any breaks in the larger bones but the Doctor told us she has a lot of small bones in that area and you can’t see fractures in those until they start to heal. Now I have to make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for Dakota and she is not allowed to play soccer until further notice. She tried to tell me she was still going to play, but I e-mailed her coach and let him know what was going on and I know he won’t let her play until she brings a Doctors excuse. That’s what happens when you have kids that like to play sports.
As for Gary’s progress, things seem to be pretty much the same. There isn’t a lot we can do until after his surgery to free that hip. The most we can do is keep the strength up in his legs and work harder on his swallowing and speech.
