What a week it has been. Dakota was told by the Dr. at the Urgent Care Unit she couldn’t play soccer until she saw an orthopedic surgeon about her hand. She was not happy about this but I got her an appointment Thursday morning before her first game since the accident. Well, there’s a funny story about the Thursday morning appointment. First I went to the wrong Doctors Office and felt very stupid asking for a Dr. that didn’t work there and then they looked the Dr. up and told me I needed to go a little further down Cleveland Ave. to his office. So we load up and head on up the road. We’re looking but we can’t find the place. It’s now about 20 minutes after the appointment time, so I head home and call the Dr. Louis office and explain we couldn’t find them so they reschedule us for the next morning (today) at 9:15 and I make sure I know where the office is located. Dakota has a game Thursday night and she is begging to play. I keep saying I don’t think it’s a good idea, but she won’t let up. I tell her we’ll leave it up to the coach (thinking he would back me up since a Dr. hadn’t released her yet), her coach looked it over and told her she could play. I had to keep my word so I let her play. Thankfully the coach didn’t play her as much as she usually plays. Everything was fine no problems. We get up and go to the orthopedic surgeon this morning. Of course we have to fill out the paperwork, but I arrived 20 minutes early for paper filling out time. Then we sit and wait for about 30 minutes past our appointment time. We have the x-rays from the the Urgent Care visit with us and the Dr. looks at those, presses on her wrist a little and tells us we need to wait another 5 days for him to x-ray the wrist again to see if there were any broken bones. It hasn’t been long enough since the inital injury to tell anything yet. He then also proceeds to tell her NO SOCCER until he can x-ray it again to see if she broke anything. She is having a fit. I told her was going to e-mail the coach and let him know the Dr. doesn’t want her playing. I told her tough, the Dr. said no soccer and there will be no soccer. We go Tuesday morning to have it checked again and the Dr. said he could tell us more then. So what ended up happening is we know nothing more now than we did before the Doctors visit today. Dakota asked, why did we even need to see this Dr. if it was still too early to know anything. I told her that’s the way medicine works. You have to see a Dr. for no reason sometimes just to start the ball rolling.
As for Gary things are still about the same. We heard from Stem Cell Biotherapy and they want to take Gary to their Mexico hospital now so it will be less traveling for him. They can still do the new procedure there and we won’t need to travel as far. The getting it set up for August which is what I asked for. With Gary’s surgery happening June 12 this will give him recovery time and then we will get to go before Lindsey’s wedding October 4.
Please continue with all the prayer and good thoughts.
