My name is Shelly and I am the wife of Gary Quick. We were married June 28, 2002, but have been a couple since March 1998. Between the 2 of us we have 5 wonderful children and we live in Westerville, OH. My husband founded Quick Solutions, Inc., which is an information technology company. We had the best life anyone could wish for. My husband use to say that he had life by the ass. On March 6, 2006 our whole world changed. He was in a motorcycle accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury (tbi). Now he is fed through a tube in his stomach, can’t walk, has trouble finding the words he wants to say, has spasms in his left hand and catches pneumonia quit often because he can’t move very well. He used to smile and laugh all the time, now he shows no emotion. Mentally he still seems to understand but he just doesn’t care about things like he use to. Since his progress seems to have stopped I have decided to take him to Stem Cell Biotherapy, located in San Diego, and have stem cell replacement therapy done. I will try to update this blog once a week to let people know how he is progressing. I will post pictures so you can see his progress or lack of progress depending on what happens. I hope this will help others decide if stem cell replacement therapy is right for them. Thank you for your interest and I hope we can help someone out there.

Gary, my dear friend, you have had to endure so much for a young man. I think of you and Shelly all the time. Sorry I haven’t stopped by, but wanted to respect your privacy. I like the “Blog” as it is a neat way to keep up with your progress. Hang in there buddy! I’ll see you at Bike Nite soon. You have an amazing wife (I know you already know that) and I am humbled by her dedication you you and your family.

Shelly,
I know that you recently mentioned that you had your 10 anniversary of meeting Gary. I remember that day more so then most of the days when Gary, Ed and I would meet up the Crown. That particular evening, there were not many people gathered and I think that maybe you were the only available female in the place (at least for Gary and my “high” standards). I remember him and I joking about which one of us should approach you and amaze you with our “debonair” personality. Although, I jokingly told you once that he had “lost” the coin flip, the truth is he actually wouldn’t flip a coin for you and just pulled rank on me.
Well, as I look back on it and the good and bad times you both have shared, I could not have wished for anything different that night. For him to meet up with someone who is as compassionate a person as you are, was truly a godsend. You are his guardian angel and I will continue to look forward to his recovery and for the days to return that I and everyone else had, when we were in the company of Gary. Until then I will continue to look forward to seeing the both of you at QS&L on Wednesdays.

Hi
I went to high school with Gary. He, Terry Walker, Penni Price and I were all friends.
I am so sorry to hear of his accident. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of all of you.
I think your blog is wonderful. May you continue to have the strength to carry on.

Hi -
I was one of the little group of friends mentioned in Debbie’s comment above, and was Gary’s close neighbor through 12 years of alphabetical seating in school. We were all so very sorry to hear about his accident, but I can see that he has been greatly blessed to have you by his side through this time of trial. You, Gary and your family will always be in our prayers.

Just a Quaker lady here looking for info on trachs and stumbled onto your site. I will hold Gary in the light and ad him to our group of those needing the light of our Lord. We have a small group that meets weekly just for the purpose of praying for those in need of special healing.
